The Chief Executive of Greater Western Sydney David Matthews says the 2015 Toyota AFL Premiership Season fixture is a win for GIANTS fans across Australia.

The GIANTS will kick off the 2015 season against St Kilda at Etihad Stadium on Sunday April 5 before travelling to StarTrack Oval Canberra to play Melbourne on Saturday April 11.

Highlights of the 2015 season for the GIANTS include:

• An ANZAC Day match against Gold Coast Suns at StarTrack Oval Canberra to mark the 100th anniversary of Gallipoli
• Eight home matches at Spotless Stadium, beginning with reigning premiers Hawthorn on Saturday May 9
• Two Sydney Derbies against the Swans on April 18 at the SCG and August 22 at Spotless Stadium
• Three home matches at StarTrack Oval Canberra including Geelong and Melbourne
• Six matches in Melbourne including Collingwood, Carlton, Richmond and the Western Bulldogs
• Two matches against the Swans, Carlton, St Kilda, Melbourne and Gold Coast Suns and one against every other club

“We are very pleased with the balance of games across Western Sydney and the ACT, in particular the match against the Gold Coast Suns at StarTrack Oval Canberra on Anzac Day to mark the 100th anniversary of Gallipoli,” Matthews said.

“Canberra deserves to have big events and we hope this game starting under lights at 5.40pm will be a sell-out. We have our strongest fixture yet in Canberra with Geelong and Melbourne also playing there next year.

“We also have big clubs coming to play at Spotless Stadium in Sydney starting with reigning AFL premiers Hawthorn as well as Essendon, Carlton, the Swans, Adelaide and North Melbourne. It’s a world class venue offering great family entertainment and we expect a significant increase in crowds in 2015.

“We also play six games in Melbourne for the first time, including two games at the MCG, and this is a great opportunity for GIANTS fans in Victoria to support the club in 2015.

“Aside from our three home games in Canberra, we also travel twice to Perth and once to Adelaide and the Gold Coast. And every game will be shown live into Sydney and Canberra on 7Mate and Fox Footy.

“From a football perspective, playing the Swans, St Kilda, Melbourne, Carlton and Gold Coast twice and having four six day breaks across the season is a good outcome for a young side entering its fourth year in the competition.

“Overall we think it’s an exciting fixture and with a stronger and more experienced playing list with the addition of All-Australian midfielder Ryan Griffen and dual Brisbane Lions best and fairest winner Joel Patfull, we can’t wait for the 2015 season to start.

“After our best season so far in 2014 there’s never been a better time to be a GIANTS member and we encourage everyone to sign up and get on board for what should be an exciting time ahead for the club.”

GIANTS members will also be eligible for free access to the Sydney Royal Easter Show on March 29, April 1 and 4 and all NAB Challenge matches featuring the GIANTS.
