Dual Brisbane Lions best and fairest winner Joel Patfull is now a GIANT after a trade deal was finalised between the two clubs today.

Patfull will become a GIANT for the next two years in exchange for pick 21 in next month’s NAB AFL Draft.

Patfull, 29, has played 182 games for Brisbane after making his debut in 2006. He was named the Lions Club Champion in 2012 and 2013 and finished third this season.

He was recruited from Norwood in South Australia and played the majority of his games at the Lions as a defender with impressive athleticism, strength and running ability. He is 190 cms and 90 kgs.

GIANTS List Manager Stephen Silvagni said Patfull was a welcome addition to the GIANTS.

“We’re delighted to secure a player of Joel’s quality and experience and he will help strengthen our defence," Silvagni said.

“We saw the impact that experienced players like Shane Mumford and Heath Shaw had last season and we believe Joel will do the same.

“Joel is a two time Club Champion at the Lions with the ability to play on both big and small forwards and he has plenty of good football ahead of him,” he said.

The GIANTS currently hold selections 4, 19, 24 (committed to Jack Steele), 43, 62, 80, 98 and 116 (committed to Jeremy Finlayson) at next month’s NAB AFL Draft.
