There’s nothing better than a win. And this week, every day we’ll take a look back at each of the GIANTS’ wins in the 2014 season. Kicking off with our historic win over our cross-town rivals and including our first win away from home, our biggest-ever win, our first win at the MCG and the final-round thriller at Etihad Stadium, we’ll have a full wrap of each win along with the match highlights and team song.

ROUND 13

Brisbane Lions 12.8 (80) def. by GWS GIANTS 19.11 (125)

All four of the GIANTS wins in their short history at this stage had been in home games at Spotless Stadium or StarTrack Oval Canberra, but this record changed on June 14 in Brisbane.

The GIANTS claimed their first away win on their 28th attempt, sixth victory overall in 56 starts, and their maiden triumph over the Lions.

With co-captain Phil Davis back in the side after a long lay off with a kidney injury, the GIANTS beat Brisbane by 45-points at the GABBA to secure their first ever away win, record their highest score and greatest winning margin.

The GIANTS only led by one point at the first break - 4.3 (27) to 4.2 (26) - and by the same margin at half-time, 9.4 (58) to 9.3 (57).

But with Brisbane legend Jonathan Brown off the ground with concussion, the GIANTS jumped to a 21-point buffer at the final break and were never headed.

Vice captain Tom Scully had his best game of the season with 30 touches, co-captain Callan Ward led the way with 31 touches and seven tackles while Jeremy Cameron and Jon Patton combined for seven goals.
