Vice-captain Heath Shaw and defender Sam Frost have been recalled to the GIANTS side to take on Richmond at the MCG on Saturday.

It will be Shaw’s first game since Round 15 when he suffered concussion in a heavy collision against the Swans.

Frost returns to the line-up after a solid fortnight in the NEAFL and has been named in the back pocket.

Tim Mohr (knee) and Jeremy Cameron (ankle) go out of the side due to injury with both players to miss the rest of the season.

Head Coach Leon Cameron said it’s a huge boost to have Shaw return to the backline.

“It was a big injury for Heath but we had to make sure the welfare of the player was at the forefront of our minds so we took the extra week or so,” said Cameron.

“Heath has been training for about two weeks and the doctors have ticked him off this week and he’s looking forward to playing the Tigers at the ‘G on Saturday.”

With five games to go for the season, Cameron says there is still plenty to play for, starting on Saturday against Richmond.

“We play really well at the MCG, out last game there was against Hawthorn when we went down by 7 points, so we look forward to taking on a side that’s won their last four games.

“They’re in terrific form but we feel like our last game against Geelong can help us lead into the Tigers game,” he said.

The GIANTS will play Richmond at the MCG this Saturday, August 2 at 4.40pm AEST. The match will be shown live in NSW and the ACT on Fox Footy and 7mate.
