Greater Western Sydney GIANTS Director and inaugural coach Kevin Sheedy has invited the people of Geelong to attend the match between the GIANTS and Cats at Spotless Stadium at Sydney Olympic Park on Saturday, July 19.

Sheedy today visited Geelong where he met with City of Greater Geelong Mayor Cr. Darryn Lyons ahead of the Round 18 match.

The game between the GIANTS and Cats will be one of the centrepieces of AFL Multicultural Round which will be celebrated later this month.

Sheedy said he wanted to see lots of Geelong fans make the trip north to Sydney to watch their team.

“It’s going to be a great match between the GIANTS and Cats and I urge Geelong fans to plan ahead, book their flights and make a weekend of it in Sydney,” Sheedy said.

“There’s plenty to see and do in the Harbour City and watching the GIANTS and Cats at Spotless Stadium on a Saturday night will top it off.

“Spotless Stadium is a great place to watch footy and there will be plenty of activities to celebrate AFL Multicultural Round too.”

City of Greater Geelong Mayor Cr. Darryn Lyons said he was excited to have Kevin Sheedy in Geelong.

“It was terrific to have Sheeds in Geelong - a true footy legend. We talked about footy of course and about the exciting things coming out of the Mayor’s office.

“As a Cats fan I’m looking forward to watching the game against this fast rising young GIANTS team."
