New Head Coach Leon Cameron believes highly regarded teenager Tom Boyd would be a good fit at the GIANTS.

Boyd is widely tipped to be taken with the first pick at Thursday’s NAB AFL Draft, but the rookie coach is not giving away who the GIANTS plan on selecting with picks 1 and 2.

"He (Boyd) is obviously a terrific young talent and he’s obviously in our sights at the moment,” said Cameron.

“We’ll finalise that late tomorrow (Wednesday) afternoon when we go through our draft strategy.

“We’ve picked up a lot of quality kids in the past couple of years and on Thursday night we’ll pick up another couple.

“Having picks 1 and 2, 14, 29 and 48 is a great position to be in as well as being so proactive in the trade period.”

Cameron was speaking at StarTrack Oval Canberra following the announcement that the GIANTS will hold their Australia Post Community Camp in the nation's capital next month.

Cameron was joined by ruckman Shane Mumford, who’s settling into his new club well and began training with his GIANTS teammates this week.

“It’s an exciting time especially with, as Leon said, with these young kids going into their third year, they’re obviously going to develop that little bit more with a third pre-season under their belt,” Mumford said.

The former Swans premiership ruckman got a close up look at StarTrack Oval today ahead of the NAB Challenge match in Canberra against his old club on February 20.

The iconic venue is currently undergoing major surface works and new seats are also being installed that will increase the capacity of the ground to nearly 15,000.

With the match being the first clash for Mumford and Jed Lamb, against their old club, the former Swan has no doubt there will be plenty of feeling in the game.

“I think it’s still going to be built up with the rivalry there and hopefully we can build that rivalry over the next few years into something that’s great.”
